What our students think
"I always knew I wanted to do something with my hands and my high school guidance counsellor suggested I enrol for a position in the Trade Taster at TAFE Queensland SkillsTech. So I applied, and was accepted for one day a week during a term. I got to try automotive mechanics, engineering and carpentry. It gave me a good feel for the variety of things involved in each trade.
"The program really helped me make my decision to study a Certificate II in Automotive. It was brilliant and so different to what my friends back at school were doing.
"I applied for Toyota's apprenticeship program and was lucky enough to get an interview. Twenty minutes later, I got a phone call to say I had been successful and here I am today, the leader of my team and loving every minute of it."
