The Queensland Government provides funding to employers who train and upskill their workforce.
Funding is available for employers of mature age, disabled and school-based apprentices while additional funding may be available depending on your apprentice's individual circumstances.
To find out more about what funding is available and how to apply, visit the Queensland Government's training website.
You and your apprentice are required to sign a training contract. In order to do this you need to work with an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (or AASN) which is a free service available to employers. Find an AASN here.
As a part of the training contract, you will need to choose a training organisation. The choice is clear for trade and technician training - choose TAFE Queensland SkillsTech.
Once you have signed the contract and have chosen us as your training provider - we are notified by the AASN and will contact you within 48hrs to organise an onsite induction (if you are located between the Sunshine and Gold Coasts, otherwise we will organise an induction over the phone).
The purpose for the onsite visit is to induct you and your apprentice into the wonderful world of TAFE. We run through things like the training plan, what training options are available, how to complete the training record book and all the other stuff like student rules and employer obligations.
Once the induction has taken place, we can get down to the fun stuff - training. Training for your apprentice can start in as little as two weeks after the induction, or we can commence the training based on what fits you and your apprentice.
Gone are the days where your apprentice will be away from the job for extensive training at TAFE. We provide current and relevant training materials and blend training options to include onsite, online and in the classroom. This ensures competent and skilled tradespeople - something that can't be achieved by relying solely on online training and assessment.
In some cases, our teachers can be made available to train and assess apprentices on the job. This ensures convenience to you while providing minimal disruption to the workplace.
Students access libraries, study materials and virtual classrooms online, and complete and submit assessments at the click of a button.
Our classroom-based, flexible training options, gives employers and apprentices the ability to train at TAFE when they want at very short notice. Perfect for downtime or rainy days!
The most traditional training method for apprentices and trainees- Training is delivered in 4-6 week blocks per year in our cutting-edge, practical and theoretical classrooms.
Is exactly that. Combine the available training options to create a training plan that works around you and your apprentice.
As an employer, you've got enough on your plate. We make it easy for you and your apprentice to book training and access resources and information. We keep you updated every step of the way regarding progression, absences from class or any other issues that may arise during the training contract.
There is always someone to help you at TAFE Queensland SkillsTech.
