Basic Key Skills Builder (bksb) is an approved online testing tool that TAFE Queensland SkillsTech uses to help determine your reading and maths levels within the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).
We want to make sure you have the right skills and support to be successful in your trade. To do this we ask that you undertake the approved bksb assessment so that we can immediately identify any areas that you may need to work on. Please be aware that if you are applying to access a VET FEE-HELP Loan it is essential that you demonstrate competence at or above Exit Level 3 (i.e. working at level 4) in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both reading and maths.
Read the bksb Student Start-up Guide for more information and to get started.
If you cannot supply a valid Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education or achieve a minimum of Exit Level 3 in the ACSF (in both reading and numeracy), you will be unable to access VET FEE-HELP.
The bksb has been designed to be easy to use and accessible to students anywhere, anytime, on any device. The online assessment provides students with:
Students required to complete the bksb before attending classes will be provided with a link to the bksb Student Start Up Guide which includes login instructions.
Note: Students applying for VET FEE-HELP will be sent important information regarding the bksb assessment for VET FEE-HELP eligibility.
