Work as a para-professional in the hydraulic services design field in the building industry. This course will equip you with the skills to design and size sanitary drainage systems, stormwater drainage systems, domestic treatment plant disposal systems and hot and cold water services. This course is also an entry requirement for those wishing to progress to the CPC50612 Diploma of Hydraulic Services Design Course details

Entry requirements

Entry into Hydraulic Services Design is open to all students, however, it is recommended that those enrolling have a Sound Achievement in Year 12 English and Maths or equivalent.

Students must also hold a current CPCCOHS1001A - Work safely in the construction industry (white card) before entering a construction work site.

Please Note: Course content is presented electronically (online) and access to computer is required at certain stages at home.

Personal protective equipment:

  • protective footwear – steel capped boots (AS 2210)
  • protective eye wear - safety glasses – econospec S55C (clear - AS/NZ 1336 or 1337)
  • protective clothing – neat and casual clothing (in classroom),100% cotton drill shorts and shirt for practical classes(sleeveless shirts or singlets are not permitted)

Students failing to meet these minimum standards of dress will not be permitted entry in to practical classes.

Current Version Textbook Requirements: 

   •   Specific AS/NZS Standards relevant to competencies taken (to be advised) 
   •    Specific Texts relevant to competencies taken (to be advised)


Acacia Ridge - Evening classes from 4.00pm to 7.00pm for approximately 6 to 12 weeks per unit.

Day classes from 8.00am to 3.45pm for approximately 3 to 5 days.

Online for approximately 5 to 12 weeks per unit.


Students may complete the 15 competencies campus based (evenings and day) or online. Students can also complete the units in either a 12 month or 18 month study plan.

It is recommended that students do not enrol in more than 2 - 3 competencies which run simultaneously.

Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.


The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.


You are eligible for the concession price of a course if you meet the eligibility requirements under the subsided costing and:

  • hold or are listed on an Australian Government Low Income Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card
  • are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • have a disability.
